The hottest pipes in the sports world belong to Bollywood star and former Miss World Priyanka Chopra, the singer behind “In My City,” the theme song to the 2013 season of “Thursday Night Football.The 31-year-old stunner is one of the biggest stars in India, but it was her music that resonated first with broadcast producers.
“If anyone told you we knew who she was before the song, we’d be lying,” said Brian Lockhart, coordinating producer at the NFL Network.
“When we heard the lyrics, we all looked at it as ‘This is what we do — when we cover a game, the entire NFL is coming to your city.’
Chopra replaced Cee Lo Green’s “I Love Football” as the opener for the game telecast and has joined the ranks of Carrie Underwood, who opens “Sunday Night Football.”
And fans are listening — and tuning — in.
Thursday’s 26-16 win by the Chiefs over the Eagles was watched by 9.4 million viewers, the most in the NFL Network’s eight seasons. The Giants will play on Thursday night Oct. 10 at Chicago.
When Chopra was in high school, she won the local "May Queen" pageant, which then qualified her for Miss India. However, it was her mother who secretly submitted her daughter's photos for contention. She went on to win Miss India and then was crowned Miss World in 2000. With the coveted Miss India and Miss World titles under her belt, it's no wonder she became one of the hottest stars in India.

When she's not busy finishing up her debut album, Chopra is currently the face of the NFL Network's "Thursday Night Football."
