Karisma is married to childhood friend and businessman Sanjay Kapoor. Before getting married to Sanjay, Karisma was engaged to Abhishek Bachchan, a bollywood actor and son of legendary actors Amitabh bachchan and Jaya Bachchan. Karisma and Sanjay’s daughter, Samaira was born in 2005. She has recently given birth to a baby boy, Kiaan Raj on 12th March, 2010.
Karisma made her bollywood debut in ‘Prem Qaidi’ released in 1991 that did moderately well business at the box office. Both these movies received immense critical acclaim and Karisma was appreciated for her versatility.
